VSP: Man wanted after high-speed chase in Carrollton, trooper fires weapon

CARROLLTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man is wanted following a high-speed pursuit in Carrollton, which involved a Virginia State Police trooper firing his weapon at him.

On July 22, a Virginia State Police trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation around 9:40 p.m. on southbound Route 17. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop, which initiated a pursuit that continued to the Eagle Harbor Apartments.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle became stuck in the median. Upon exiting the vehicle, state police say the suspect displayed a firearm and the trooper fired his service weapon at him. The suspect then fled on foot, leaving behind two passengers in the vehicle…
