NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – More changes are coming to Norfolk International Airport as one of its runways permanently closed Friday.
Runway 14/32 was built in 1943 by the U.S. government for use during World War II, and it was given to the public in 1947, according to the Norfolk Airport Authority.
But despite a runway closing, passengers do not have to worry about their flights getting delayed or canceled. The runway was too short to handle the commercial aircraft that was coming in.
