NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The USNS Comfort, a U.S. Navy Mercy-class hospital ship, returns to Naval Station Norfolk Sunday morning following a summer deployment as part of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S.4th Fleet’s Continuing Promise 2025 mission.

The ship returned at 10:30 a.m. after medical teams aboard the Comfort treated thousands of patients in Grenada, Panama, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago.
The team also collaborated with local governments and NGOs to facilitate subject matter exchanges (SMEEs), implemented humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) projects, and conducted community relations.
