Hampton Roads parking garages open in case of flooding from Hurricane Erin

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) – Various parking garages across Hampton Roads will be open to allow residents to get their cars off the streets in anticipation of Hurricane Erin.

Many cities are expecting to see flooding, as Erin will bring high rip currents and wind gusts.

Virginia Beach

The city will be providing people looking to move their cars to higher ground with multiple options in four Town Center garages. Those options will be available starting Wednesday afternoon through Friday, but the city asks residents to avoid parking in reserved spots at the Town Center garages, since those are leased by residents, and towing will be enforced.

The city also notes that if garages lose power, lighting and elevators will not work.

The Town Center garages include:

  • Maroon Garage (Apex Entertainment VB)
  • Red Garage (Westin Hotel)
  • Green Garage (Armada Hoffler Tower)
  • Orange Garage (Clark Nexsen Tower)

Chesapeake

The parking garage located on Tidewater Community College Chesapeake’s campus, located on 1428 Cedar Rd, will allow vehicles to park there beginning Wednesday at 1 p.m. Parking spots are only available on the third and fourth floors…
