NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man accused of killing his 8-month-old daughter and her mother was in court Thursday for the first of a two-day preliminary hearing.
Carlos Johnson Jr. has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the alleged homicide of his 8-month-old daughter, Chloe, and her mother Keir, who both went missing on April 30, 2017, and were never found.

Thursday in court, a number of witnesses were called to the stand, from family members of the alleged victims to former coworkers, acquaintances and friends of the defendant.
One witness, a former coworker and friend of the defendant, recalled a time Johnson Jr. said he had given someone money for an abortion but that they had kept the money and the baby. Johnson Jr. then asked him to “kill a little baby and a girl.” …
