LONDON, KY – Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Cyruss McVey along with shift Sgt. Robert Reed arrested Russell Lee Gongaware age 41 of Virginia Beach Virginia early Tuesday morning August 12, 2025 at approximately 12:03 AM.
The arrest occurred on I – 75 approximately 3 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to conduct a welfare check on I- 75 southbound at mile marker 43 regarding a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway with the passenger door standing open.
