Water outage impacts about 1,000 residents in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A water line’s planned shutdown led to 1,000 residents in local neighborhoods temporarily losing water Saturday morning.

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities confirmed the shutdown was part of a scheduled meter replacement. Crews having to adjust further down the distribution line after a valve failed led to the outage. Affected areas included West Neck, Courthouse Estates and the Princess Anne to Indian River corridor.

The department added that water service was restored by 10 a.m., and the outage did not affect drinking water. The meter replacement work has been rescheduled…
