An investigation is underway after a man was found shot dead on Sargeant Street early Friday morning, according to Hampton police.
Around 12:50 a.m., an attempted robbery and gunfire was reported to have taken place in the 400 Block of Marion Road. The alleged victim of the attempted robbery — who was uninjured — was then found at the scene, according to police.
Based on initial gatherings, police say the alleged victim was approached by a person with a gun after they finished a food delivery. The delivery man then pulled out his own gun, prompting the two to start firing at each other. The suspect proceeded to run away.
