Chesapeake police save resident from apartment fire amid medical emergency

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake police and firefighters worked together to rescue a person from an apartment fire early Tuesday morning in the Greenbrier area.

The fire happened just after 5:40 a.m. in the 600 block of Sabal Palm Lane. Police arrived first and saw smoke coming from a first-floor unit. Inside, they found someone on the floor having a medical emergency. Officers pulled the person out of the smoke-filled apartment and started lifesaving efforts until firefighters arrived.

Fire crews then took over and got the patient to a local hospital…
