Yorktown sailor pleads guilty in fellow sailor’s death

YORKTOWN, Va. — A sailor has pleaded guilty during a special court martial to dereliction of duty after a boating incident in April 2024 led to the death of another sailor.

The Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Public Affairs Office said Master-at-Arms Second Class Petty Officer Jackson Bower, assigned to Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, pleaded guilty to dereliction of duty on Monday. He was also charged with making a false official statement and negligent homicide in the death of 22-year-old Master-at-Arms Third Class Lyndon Cosgriff-Flax of Wichita, Kansas.
