Ex-Portsmouth city councilman pleads guilty to unlawful dissemination of images

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A former Portsmouth city councilman who was convicted of assault and battery of a family member has also pleaded guilty to the unlawful dissemination or sale of images of another.

Court records show that De’Andre Barnes pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor on Sept. 2. He was sentenced to 60 days with all 60 suspended, as well as court costs and 12 months of probation.

The guilty plea comes after a jury convicted Barnes back in July for misdemeanor assault and battery of a family member. That charge stems from an incident dating back to December of last year.
