Man and woman charged with trafficking cocaine and opium in Currituck County

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A man and woman were arrested in Currituck County after they were allegedly caught with cocaine, drug paraphernalia and pills of hydrocodone during a traffic stop.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 6000 block of Caratoke Highway. Assisted by a K9, they conducted a search of the vehicle, which yielded 26 grams of powder cocaine, 19 grams of crack cocaine, 9.5 grams of hydrocodone pills, an amount of marijuana and several other drug paraphernalia items.

Willie Issac White, 63, and Chynetta Walton Morris, 43, were subsequently arrested and charged with the following:

  • Trafficking of Cocaine
  • Trafficking of Opium (by transportation)
  • Trafficking of Opium (by possession)
  • Maintaining a Vehicle for a Controlled Substance
  • Possession with the Intent to Sell or Distribute Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia

Morris was given a bond of $75,000, and White was issued a bond of $300k following a 48-hour hold. They were both turned over to the Currituck County Detention Center, and their vehicle was impounded…
