NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Four inmates at the Newport News Jail overdosed on an unknown substance on September 11 and were hospitalized, the Newport News Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
“Thankfully, because of the heroic acts of our deputies and medical staff, all four inmates returned to the jail safely,” a spokesperson said.
