Outdoor roller skating rink to open at Suffolk’s Downtown Festival Park in October

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk Parks & Recreation has unveiled an outdoor roller skating rink opening in October, according to a press release.

Beginning Oct. 1, the all-ages roller skating rink will be open to the public on Thursdays through Sundays, with private rental groups also being available Monday through Wednesday. It will be closed by Oct. 31. Skates will be provided and personal skates are allowed. Skating sessions will run for one hour. Suffolk Parks & Recreation recommends you arrive 15 minutes prior to get your skates.

The rink will be located at Downtown Festival Park on 215 W Washington Street, opening between these times:

  • 5:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays
  • 12:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on Saturdays
  • 12:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays

These events will take place at the rink on Fridays in October:

  • TGIF Concert featuring Goof Shot Judy on Oct. 3, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Costume and Dance Party with DJ on Oct. 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • A screening of the movie, Wicked, on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
  • Another TGIF Concert showcasing The Band Monarch, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 for skaters who are 13 years old and older. Kids 12 years old and younger can go in for free, but must be accompanied by a parent. Private group rental and public skating registration opened on Sept. 15. All sales are final and rescheduling is not available…
