Police: 1 dead, suspect at large in shooting at Hampton 7-Eleven

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died after being shot at a 7-Eleven on East Mercury Boulevard in Hampton Wednesday, and a suspect is at large, police said.

Police said they got multiple calls for the shooting at the 7-Eleven in the 1st block of East Mercury Boulevard around 5:43 p.m., and when they arrived, officers found a man who had been shot and had what they said were life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, according to police.

Hampton Police said an altercation took place between the man and the suspect at the gas pumps, and that escalated into an exchange of shots, with the man being shot multiple times and the suspect leaving the scene in a vehicle, according to a preliminary investigation into the shooting.
