PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – It’s forecast to be a wet weekend. As a result, several outdoor events have announced changes to their schedules.

Hampton
The Hampton Cup Regatta, the popular inboard hydroplane racing event in Mill Creek scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 26-28 has been canceled because of high winds and heavy rain in the forecast, the city said. All traffic and parking restrictions put in place for the regatta have been lifted. Next year is the 100th anniversary of the annual event!
Suffolk
Suffolk Parks & Recreation has canceled the Saturday, Sept. 27 showing ofSonic the Hedgehog 3. The annual outdoor Cinema Series, which began in May, will resume on Oct. 11, 2025 at Bennett’s Creek Park Rd., featuring the original Ghostbusters.
