Military braces for uncertainty amid looming payless payday due to shutdown

NORFOLK, Va. — More than 2 million military personnel could soon feel a squeeze as the government shutdown continues without an end in sight. The impact is expected to delay paydays for government employees and military personnel.

“We know that they’re coming in the door with that, you know, higher level of discomfort and anxiety. Like, ‘Gosh, what’s going to happen? What am I going to do?'” said Dawn Cutler, Navy Rear Adm., Chief Operations Officer for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS).
