Local and state officials urge Virginia residents to prepare for the weekend Nor’easter

VIRGINIA, USA — With a nor’easter expected to bring strong winds, heavy rain, and potential flooding across Hampton Roads this weekend, emergency officials are urging residents to take steps now to stay safe and minimize damage.

State and local agencies say flooding is expected to be the biggest threat for coastal areas, with some of the highest tides of the season expected to arrive at the same time the storm moves in.

“The biggest piece that we’re focusing on is going to be the flooding in that area. And so, we want people to be prepared for that, to recognize that it’s a potential, going to have heavy rains, going to have a very heavy potential for tidal flooding,” says Jason Elmore, Chief spokesperson for The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM)…
