CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A survey found most in Chesapeake prefer their schools continue starting the school year after Labor Day, but feedback was mixed, especially among Chesapeake Public Schools employees.
Two options for school years 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 were proposed. One option started school after Labor Day both years. The other option would have a post-Labor Day start in 2026, but a pre-Labor Day start in 2027.
