One couple’s dream day quickly became a nightmare when they arrived at their wedding venue, which was allegedly plagued with everything from an ant infestation to unexpected wedding crashers.

After getting engaged, bride Maggie Reed and groom Tyler Smithhart started planning everything and found Buttercups Home, an Airbnb located in Portsmouth, Va. Once they settled on an Oct. 11 wedding at the venue, they quickly secured it, they recalled to WAVY 10.

In April 2024, 18 months before the wedding, they signed the event contract and paid the $5,000 fee in installments and $750 security deposit. However, when the time came for the wedding weekend, Reed knew things were awry once she arrived, she claims, at the powerless venue…
