NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– A man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after shooting and killing a man who intervened in a domestic dispute.
25-year-old Lamont Charles Whitaker pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for shooting and killing 23-year-old Miyett Antwione Little Jr. for intervening in an argument between Whitaker and Whitaker’s girlfriend.
On the evening of January 15, Whitaker and his girlfriend were returning to her residence, on Green Leaf Drive, when an argument that began in the car continued to the front of her home. Little Jr. overheard the argument and exchanged words with Whitaker. After a brief interaction, Whitaker pulled out a gun and shot Little Jr. ten times killing him.
Whitaker called 911 and identified himself as the shooter. When police arrived on scene, they detained Whitaker. After being read his Miranda rights and consenting to an interview with detectives, Whitaker claimed that Little Jr. had walked up behind him, prompting him to shoot. Little Jr. was not armed…
