National Weather Service designates Virginia Beach as a StormReady community

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The National Weather Service has designated Virginia Beach as a StormReady community, according to the City of Virginia Beach.

“This StormReady designation reinforces Virginia Beach’s ongoing investment in maintaining a world-class emergency management program that prioritizes the safety of our residents, businesses, visitors, and workforce,” said Dave Topczynski, the City of Virginia Beach Emergency Management’s Director.

For a city to be designated as StormReady, it must be able to save lives and protect property throughout a weather event.
