First phase of bike lanes on Granby St. in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Crews in Norfolk have started reconfiguring Granby Street for additional bicycle traffic.

They’re turning the right lane into an all-bike lane, as workers have added stripes and barriers in the northbound direction from the Granby Street Bridge to Kingsley Lane. They’ve also added a right-turn only lane from Granby Street to Willow Wood Drive.

The speed limit has also been dropped from 35 mph to 30 mph.

The entire project calls for bike lanes in both directions from the Granby Street to Admiral Taussig Boulevard, near Wards Corner and just south of the Interstate 564 overpass.
