Man found guilty of driving stolen van after traffic stop near Norfolk International Airport

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Norfolk man was convicted of stolen goods and misdemeanor possession of an altered license plate after police found him driving a stolen van with different plates earlier this year, according to the Norfolk Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.

A Norfolk Airport Police officer pulled over 38-year-old Demetrice Arnell McClammy, who was driving a white 2024 GMC Savana van that failed to stop at a stop sign near Pritchard St and Miller Store Rd June 22. After running the plates, the officer realized the plates belonged to a white 2011 Ford van, says the CA’s office.

The officer then proceeded to run the VIN number, which had been stolen from a U-Haul truck based in Portsmouth. Additionally, the steering column in the Savana had been tampered with and appeared to have been hot-wired, according to Norfolk CA…
