Student arrested after bringing gun to King’s Fork High: Police

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A King’s Fork High student was taken into custody after a firearm was located in the student’s backpack Tuesday, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers say the weapon detection system went off as the 17-year-old student entered the school, prompting a search by a School Security Officer. After the weapon was discovered, Suffolk Police responded to the event, recovering and securing the firearm.

The student has been charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, illegal concealment of a firearm, minor in possession of a firearm, and receipt of a stolen firearm. He was transported to a local detention center…
