Man receives over 4 years for involvement in fatal Norfolk shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man pleaded no contest Wednesday and was sentenced to four years and two months in prison after handing a woman the gun used to kill another woman in 2022, according to the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Arien Dajuan Clinton, 24, and another woman, 25-year-old Quasia Elizabeth Sheppard, drove to the house of a woman alleging that Clinton gave the woman a sexually transmitted infection (STI) from prior relations. Sheppard then challenged the woman to a fight, in which she did not initially engage, says Norfolk CA.

According to Commonwealth’s attorney, the woman called her brother and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Stariyana Patterson, who soon arrived at the apartment complex. Once the two arrived, the woman and another friend went to go fight Sheppard. The woman also placed a zipped backpack containing a firearm near the apartment complex’s trash bins.

The Norfolk CA says Clinton and Sheppard returned to the residence and Sheppard proceeded to fight the two women, losing in the process. Sheppard then returned to Clinton’s car yelling, “Give me the gun,” and proceeded to point the weapon at the three women…
