Suffolk crypto scam warning

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– Reports from the Suffolk Police Department on Nov. 26 state that scammers are posing as Suffolk Sheriff’s Deputies. There have been demanding payments through crypto QR Codes.

**Be aware: they may call from a number that appears to match your local department & use information to gain your trust.**

REMEMBER:

  • Law enforcement will never request crypto payments!
  • You are not able to pay your way out of a warrant!
  • NEVER give out personal information over the phone.
  • Always double-check with your local law enforcement agency before you take any action!
  • STAY ALERT at all times and protect yourself.
