‘Forced the victim to say goodbye to her family’: Norfolk man records himself stabbing, beating woman

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — In late December 2024, an abused woman escaped her abuser’s home with the help of her family. She then reported the abuse she endured to the Norfolk Police Department, who started their investigation.

According to the Commonwealth, Norfolk law enforcement had already been looking for the woman because her reported abuser, William Perez, 22, had reported her missing.

Drawing a connection between the two reports, the Commonwealth said detectives arranged to meet with Perez under the guise of investigating his missing person report, and he was taken into custody in early January.

The abuse presented in court was described by the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office as “shocking in its duration and severity.”…
