HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton Police are looking for a suspect in connection to a shooting Saturday on Michigan Drive that they say followed an altercation and an attempted theft of a phone.
Around 1:49 p.m., Hampton Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Michigan Drive. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a non life-threatening gunshot wound, and he was taken to the hospital, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated the victim was in the 400 block of Michigan Drive when four people — two female and two male of unknown ages — approached him. After they exchanged words, one of the male suspects tried to take the man’s phone, according to police, and after a fight between the victim and suspects, one of the suspects shot the victim.
Hampton Police’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding what police say appears to be an isolated incident.
