Cause, manner of death revealed for woman found dead on Newport News sidewalk

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the cause and manner of death in the passing of a 55-year-old Norfolk woman, who was found lying on a sidewalk in Newport News.

On Nov. 26, Newport News Police responded to the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and 45th Street around 3 a.m. for the report of a person lying on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive woman, identified as Deanna Marshay Williams, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, Andra Leman Austin, 63, of Newport News was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder.
