UPDATE: Shimell Woodard has been found safe and is being seen by medical personnel, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — It was the good news many had hoped for, but few honestly expected. A missing woman, 61, with early-onset dementia, was found safe after wandering off in harsh winter weather Monday night.
According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, Shimell Woodard was found about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, more than 12 hours after she left Grande Oak Senior Housing at 6306 Old Mooretown Road wearing a red T-shirt, jeans and dark shoes.
