NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — While a wrecking ball is in the future for Calvert Square, until then, hundreds of people still call the Norfolk public housing community home, but many residents have, for days, been living in apartments with little to no heat, and they say it’s nothing new.
But now, it appears the worst of the cold spell is over there. Days ago, TNT Lassiter sounded the alarm.
“Calvert Square, no heat, day two that I’ve been aware of,” she said in a video on social media. “Our neighboring cities, like Franklin and Richmond, have indeed been experiencing snow. … Please do not stay another freezing cold night in these units without insulation. You guys, I am worried about your safety. … Maintenance is providing heaters, but I was also told a hotel stay is also possible.”…
