3 Newport News smoke shops shut down for selling drugs

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police say three vape shops in the city were shut down this week after officers and federal partners executed search warrants tied to an ongoing drug distribution investigation.

The searches happened Wednesday, Dec. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 4, at:

  • A-Z Smokehouse in the 10100 block of Jefferson Avenue
  • Happy Smoke in the 11100 block of Jefferson Avenue
  • EZ Smok Tobacco and Vape in the 12600 block of Warwick Boulevard

According to police, the warrants were issued after investigators gathered information suggesting illegal drug activity at the businesses.

Inside the shops, officers say they found more than 62 pounds of marijuana, along with numerous THC vapes, psilocybin mushrooms, and edible products. All three locations were closed following the searches…
