An assistant principal at Kempsville High School in Virginia was arrested and charged along with his older brother after an off-duty police officer overheard them discussing plans to harm immigration officers and local law enforcement.
Court documents describe a chat at a restaurant in Virginia Beach, where one brother reportedly talked about traveling to Nevada to meet others and get high-powered weapons, while the other seemed to back him up.
Who was arrested
The men have been identified by officials as John Wilson Bennett, 54, and his brother Mark Booth Bennett, 59. They are both charged with one count of conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, according to court records and statements from federal and local officials.
Mark was taken into custody at Norfolk International Airport as he was preparing to board a flight, while John was arrested in the Virginia Beach area.
