Missy Elliott gives $50K to Portsmouth nonprofit

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The local legend is giving back to her community once again, as Missy Elliott fed members of the Portsmouth community and cut a hefty check to help people in need.

Patricia Elliott, on behalf of Missy Elliott, gave a surprise gift of $50,000 to Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless. Leaders of the nonprofit said this will help give people food to eat, a safe place to sleep and a roof over their heads.
