CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A cat died and a home on Garth Way in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake was damaged in a fire Monday evening, the Chesapeake Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to a fire to a residence in the 2500 block of Garth Way around 7:19 p.m. after multiple callers reported a house fire.
Five minutes later, crews arrived and found smoke and flames coming from a two-story, single-family home, and firefighters got it under control around 8:02 p.m., the fire department said.
The only occupant of the home was not there at the time of the fire, and a cat died, the fire department said. There were no injuries reported, and the displaced resident has secured temporary living arrangements…
