VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WKRC) – A judge has found the mother of a 2-year-old girl who died from toxic levels of Benadryl not guilty by reason of insanity, ending a criminal case that stemmed from the child’s death in 2022.
Leandra Andrade, who was 38 at the time, was found unconscious with her daughter, Lanoix, at the Cutty Sark Motel in Virginia Beach in August 2022, authorities said, PEOPLE reported. The toddler later was found to have a fatal amount of the antihistamine in her system.
Prosecutors said Andrade had fled the Washington, D.C., area with the child after Lanoix’s father, Fabio Andrade Jr., was awarded full legal custody. The parents shared joint physical custody at the time…
