NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Bruce Gordon Hisle was sentenced on Jan. 23, 2026 to 38 years in prison after being convicted of the shooting death of 84-year-old James Robert Carter outside a Norfolk convenience store.
The sentencing comes following a jury’s verdict last summer of felony homicide and other charges stemming from a violent altercation that left Carter dead and another man wounded.
The shooting occurred outside the Triple-C convenience store on Lindenwood Avenue on Dec. 20, 2023, when Bruce Hisle was allegedly arguing with another individual.
