HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — One person died following a residential fire Thursday night on Tidewater Drive, according to the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue.
Units were dispatched to the 50 block of Tidewater Drive at approximately 11:05 p.m. after a call from a passerby.
Upon arrival, crews found the fire fully involved with smoke and flames visible. Additionally, several vehicles near the residence were on fire.
Crews began an aggressive attack on the fire, but fire officials said the residence’s rural surroundings posed a water-supply challenge for extinguishing the fire. Assistance was requested from Langley Air Force Base to provide a tanker truck to increase the water supply…
