Snowy weekend to impact schools across Virginia

Confidence has significantly increased in a large winter storm, which will severely impact the southeast of Virginia and the Carolinas during this week. On Friday, Jan. 30, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter storm watch for widespread areas of southeast Virginia. Teachers have already begun preparations for asynchronous assignments for the next few days and have let students know about the possibility of staying home for Monday and possibly longer.

“Please ensure that all students take their Chromebooks home in the event we need to activate the Inclement Weather Remote Learning Plan. All staff should also plan to take their devices home today for this reason,” Principal Dr. Leslie Ittner stated in an email to all staff on Friday, Jan. 30. “In case we need to use the Inclement Weather Remote Learning Plan, please take time today to verify you have a Google Meet Link accessible to students [on your Canvas home page] for office hours.”

With freezing temperatures all week prior to the storm, people have been advised to take care traveling during the storm, according to local news authorities…
