NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter weather, but the groundhog at the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News is calling for an early spring in Hampton Roads.
Many gather at the Virginia Living Museum every year on Feb. 2 to watch Chuck make his big prediction. The tradition, which dates back to 2010, is a beloved regional event that combines wildlife education with seasonal fun.
At approximately 11 a.m., Chesapeake Chuck did not see his shadow, forecasting an early spring.
