Fire damages Virginia Beach motel after clothing ignites on heater

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — An accidental fire damaged a motel in Virginia Beach on Monday night.

The fire happened shortly before 10 p.m. at the Mac Thrift Motor Inn North in the 300 block of 22nd Street, according to Virginia Beach Fire Department. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the three-story hotel.
