NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Dominion Energy’s Norfolk operations center was just one of the spots crews were working out of to restore power to residents due to the high winds.
According to Dominion, Hampton Roads has seen at least 29,000 outages. A spokesperson says that some residents may experience extended outages as winds in some areas exceed 50 miles per hour.
“We’ve seen winds and wind gusts between 45 and 55 miles per hour. Those winds have really caused some trees and tree limbs to blow down in Virginia Beach, as well as on the peninsula where we saw some broken cross arms,” said spokesperson Cherise Newsome, “we’ve also seen some outages in the Suffolk area because it is so heavily forested and has lots of trees. So we’ve seen most of our outages there.”…
