Portsmouth Police arrest suspect linked to robberies from 2025

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man was arrested on Jan. 12 after an armed robbery at a pizza shop in Portsmouth, according to the Portsmouth Police Department.

The suspect’s name was witheld pending formal processing. He has been charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and wearing a mask in public.

On Jan. 12 at around 2:34 p.m., the department responded to a robbery in the 3000 block of Turnpike Road. When officers arrived, witnesses said a man wearing entirely black clothing and a blue face mask entered the business. After talking to employees for several minutes, the suspect approached the front register, pulled out a purple gun and demanded money from the safe.
