Firefighters battle large blaze at Hampton apartment complex

HAMPTON, Va. — Fire crews responded to a large residential fire on Marcella Road in Hampton on Monday afternoon.

According to Hampton Fire and Rescue, firefighters were called to the 200 block of Marcella Road just after noon for a report that a room was on fire. They arrived minutes later to find smoke and fire coming from the back of a three-story apartment building.

The building was evacuated, and crews began search, rescue, and fire suppression of the apartments. Three people were evaluated at the scene, and one person was taken to the hospital for treatment. Additionally, a dog and a cat were saved and reunited with their respective owners…
