Multiple units respond to fire on Benefit Road in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY)– Multiple crews responded to an overnight fire in the Hickory section of Chesapeake.

According to officials, Chesapeake Fire Department units were called to the 100 block of Benefit Road at 4:29 a.m. for the report of a residential fire. When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and flames visible from the roof of the home.

Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines and began an aggressive attack to contain the fire . It was marked under control just before 7 a.m.

Four adults and one child were home during the fire but evacuated prior to firefighters arrival. Due to the cold weather, they were immediately relocated to a neighboring home during the incident. They will not need assistance from the Red Cross…
