CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Chesapeake Fire Department responded to a fire near Chesapeake’s Grassfield neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, according to the Chesapeake Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 800 block of Shillelagh Road at around 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 25. When crews arrived to the scene, they saw heavy smoke that was visible from the backyard.
Firefighters deployed multiple hoselines to the back of the house, finding a 10-by-20-foot shed and a 40-by-30-foot detached two-car garage on fire. An exterior attack was initiated to extinguish the fire. More units were dispatched for water shuttle operations.
The fire was marked out by 5:09 p.m.
According to officials, the property’s primary residence was not affected. No injuries were reported.
Shillelagh Road between Vincek Way and Ward Rd was closed for multiple hours due to the fire, according to Chesapeake Roads on Twitter. It has since reopened…
