Nationwide search underway for Chesapeake Public Schools superintendent

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Chesapeake School Board is seeking the next superintendent of Chesapeake Public Schools.

In partnership with the Virginia School Boards Association, a nationwide search is being conducted to find a superintendent in preparation for the 2026-2027 school year. This comes after Superintendent Dr. Jared A. Cotton announced his retirement, which will be effective July 1.

The board is looking for someone with a demonstrated record of effective educational and organizational leadership.
