NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — United Way of the Virginia Peninsula hosted its inaugural Legacy Society Induction & Impact Awards in Newport News Saturday evening, according to a press release.
Presented by TowneBank, and emceed by Don Roberts, the event was held at the Mariners’ Museum in Newport News at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 28. The event celebrated legacy, leadership, and the people who continue to light the way for a brighter tomorrow.
The ceremony’s honorees included:
- Conway H. Sheild III – Living Legend Award
- Stephen C. Barrs – Legend in the Making Award
- Sylvia Weinstein Craft – Archetype of Inspiration Award
- Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII – Changing Our World Award
