PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man wanted for attempted murder in connection to a Smithfield shooting was taken into custody and arrested Monday, Smithfield Police said.

Anthony Haywood was wanted on 12 felony warrants and is being charged with the following: attempted murder, malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, four counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, four counts of shooting within 1,000 feet of an Isle of Wight County school and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was also wanted on a show cause capias from Isle of Wight County and is currently being held without bond in the Portsmouth City Jail.
